‘World War Hulk’ movie set to start production in 2022

With She-Hulk set to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the near future, it looks like Marvel Studios still has a place reserved for the Hulk himself. According to Geeks WorldWide, a World War Hulk The film is set to begin production in 2022.

Written by Greg Pak with illustrations by John Romita Jr., World War Hulk was a comic book crossover event released in 2007. The series centered around the Hulk’s return to Earth after being exiled to space. After the death of the Hulk’s wife in Sakaar, he sets out to take revenge on the Illuminati and wage war on them and other heroes of Earth.

Geeks WorldWide states that according to their sources, production on the film will begin at the end of 2022. They also mentioned that it seems unlikely that it will be a full comic book adaptation, but rather a interpretation of the overall storyline similar to previous Marvel Studios productions.

The news came as a bit of a shock to some, given the Hulk’s complicated film rights. It was previously reported that the film rights for the character belonged to Universal Pictures, which is why the last solo project was The Incredible Hulk in 2008. But that rumored production could mean Marvel and Disney reclaimed the rights, and it could be the first of many projects featuring the Hulk.
