Sylacauga City Council Meeting – April 19, 2022

SYLACAUGA, Ala. – Sylacauga City Council met Tuesday evening April 19 at 6:00 p.m. with a pre-work session at 5:00 p.m.

The board authorized an amendment to the Waste Hauling Services contract with Peoples Services, Inc. effective April 12, 2022. The amendment authorizes a seven percent fee increase based on the Consumer Price Index ( CPI).

City Council has approved a resolution to allocate funds for repairs to the Lake Howard Bridge.

They also authorized a $7.92 refund to Daniel Signs, Inc. for a building permit overpayment.

The board approved travel and training expenses for Firefighter Isaac Holmes and Fire Lt. Kyle Moseley to attend the Alabama Fire College Fire Officer I Course at the Lafayette Fire Department, May 23-27, 2022. He n There are no registration fees or expenses for meals and the use of a city-provided vehicle will be incurred. The total estimated expenses for Holmes and Moseley are $75 each.

Additionally, the City Council amended the minutes of the February 15, 2022 meeting by adding a second location for the AFC Rescue Technician: Rope 1 course followed from February 28 to March 4, 2022, as the courses were conducted at a time in Alexander City and Opelika.

Council approved the invoice received in the amount of $500 and the balance of accounts payable for the month of March in the amount of $545,537.53.

They also accepted the March payroll in the amount of $429,728.46.

After the public meeting, the board moved into a private executive meeting, closed to the public and the press.

The next scheduled meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, May 3 at 6:00 p.m.
