Michael davies

Michael Davies, Senior Vice President, Field and Technical Management and Operations, Fox Sports

With over two decades of sports television experience, Michael Davies is Senior Vice President, Technical and Field Operations, FOX Sports. He manages all day-to-day aspects of live broadcast operations and oversees the integration of new and emerging technologies for FOX Sports and FS1, specializing in technical production and innovation for major sporting events.

In addition to technical design and oversight, Michael shares oversight of FOX LAB, an approach designed to explore technical partnerships to enhance the viewing experience. FOX LAB has positioned the network at the forefront of technical innovation in sports broadcasting, including several high-level live virtual reality activations as well as integrating a high-tech production arsenal for coverage of events such as the Super Bowl, US Open, World Series and Daytona 500. Michael has won multiple Sports Emmy Awards for his work with FOX Sports and HBO, including tech team remotes for NASCAR, MLB and NFL coverage and the long-term sports programming.

Matt stagg

Matt Stagg, Head of Mobile Strategy, BT

Matt has over 25 years of telecommunications, media and entertainment experience and was recently named one of TV’s 50 Most Influential People Online for the fourth year in a row. In 2017, he received the TV Connect People’s Choice award for “person who made the most impact in the connected entertainment industry”.

Within BT Sport, he is responsible for the development of mobile capabilities and the broadcaster’s long-term mobile strategy.

As part of the wider BT group, Matt is also developing the technology strategy for broadcast, media and entertainment on 4G / LTE-B and 5G. This encompasses a ‘glass-to-glass’ approach integrating both media contribution and distribution.

Matt is also the founder and chairman of the Mobile Video Alliance and co-founder of the LTE-Broadcast Global Alliance.

Andy Rayner, Chief Technologist, Nevion

Andy Rayner is a highly experienced broadcasting and telecommunications technologist based in the UK. He spent 22 years leading the broadcast technology business at British Telecom, which included the architecture of the world’s leading MPLS-TE media network and the innovation of IP broadcast technology solutions. He joined Nevion in 2010 and has since led the company’s technology roadmap and engineering architecture, speaking at numerous broadcast conferences and engaging in the evolution of global broadcast standards. He holds numerous patents from his work at both Nevion and BT.

Andy is also currently Director of the Video Services Forum and an SMPTE member. He holds a degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Sheffield. While at BT, he received the prestigious Martlesham Gold Medal for Technical Innovation.
