GTA Online save and profile migration issues for PS5 and Xbox series acknowledged by Rockstar

For those eager to jump into GTA Onlne for next-gen (which is live for some people in the world), there seems to be an issue regarding profile migration. It seems that the GTA Online profile saving and profile migration issues have surfaced for players and are somehow related to profile migration from PC.

This was confirmed by Rockstar today, where they mention that they are working to fix this issue. Here is the full announcement regarding the GTA Online profile migration issues:

We are currently working to resolve the GTA Online profile migration issue for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S where those migrating from PS4 or Xbox One are currently blocked due to the previous migration of those accounts to PC, and will update everything the world once it works as intended.

In addition to that, Rockstar has also released this small FAQ for save migration errors.

Question: Why am I getting the following error stating that my GTA Online profile is not eligible for migration?

  • Alert: The GTA Online profile associated with this Rockstar Games Social Club account is not eligible for migration at this time.

To respond: Players may receive this error message for several reasons, including but not limited to:

  • GTA Online profile is currently banned or suspended and not eligible for migration
  • GTA Online profile has already migrated and is no longer eligible for migration
  • Illegitimate progression has been detected on the GTA Online profile and will not be eligible for migration
  • GTAO Online profile progress is insufficient and is currently not eligible for migration

Finally, if you’re transferring characters to the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions of GTA Online, remember that your character will be deleted on the last-gen version of the game. For those on PC, there’s also no option to transfer to and from PC to next-gen versions (per Reddit).

If Rockstar releases a new announcement, we’ll update the post.
