Appointment of Amy Pope as Director General of the International Organization for Migration

The United States is proud to appoint Amy Pope as Director General of the International Organization for Migration (IOM). Ms. Pope is currently Deputy Director General for Management and Reform at IOM.

Amy Pope is the visionary and inclusive leader IOM needs in this time of unprecedented displacement and migration. She has experience working with governments, non-governmental organizations and community stakeholders to translate policy into reality. Ms. Pope led successful governance and budget reforms at IOM, which garnered broad support from IOM Member States. Ms. Pope has proven her exceptional ability to deliver results in the service of migrants, to lead and support IOM staff and to work closely with Member States. She envisions an IOM that strengthens the commitment of Member States and invests in human capital.

The United States strongly supports the candidacy of Amy Pope. We are confident that under his leadership, IOM will thrive as the premier international organization for migration.
